Giving sound a shape
Sound itself is empty, fluid and intangible, yet in physics it can be shown as the vibration of particles or in the form of waves. We took a looping audio clip and imaged its frequency bands, so that different kinds of vibration were imaged as points of intersection in space and given form, then enclosed to bring out the idea of the loop. We then combined structure and wave frequency parametrically, so that the object was shaped through a weaving logic to complete the model.

From waves to form
Deduction route: Rhino, acrylic cutting, TouchDesigner, sound-wave curves, crossing horizontally and vertically.
Structural breakdown: the linear vibration of a sound wave → its circular vibration → the two overlapped horizontally and vertically → enclosed according to the audio loop → the overlapped data fed into a parametric model to form a body → the woven surface treated as the load-bearing logic.
